About the film

Two years in the desert with Paul Atreides.

Dune: Part Two is Denis Villeneuve's continuation of Frank Herbert's Dune, picking up where the 2021 first installment left off. Paul Atreides — exiled, grieving, and increasingly entangled with Fremen prophecy — moves from refugee to insurgent leader against the Harkonnen occupation of Arrakis, while Chani warns him that revenge and prophecy may be the same blade pointed at his own people.

Villeneuve shot most of the film in IMAX-native 65mm, and it shows: long, patient compositions in Jordan and Abu Dhabi, sandworms rendered at the scale Herbert always implied, and a Hans Zimmer score that leans further into throat-singing and bone-drum percussion than Part One did. The new additions — Florence Pugh's Princess Irulan, Austin Butler's Feyd-Rautha, Léa Seydoux's Lady Margot — pull the political register of the Imperium into focus.

Reviews on release called it "the rare blockbuster sequel that surpasses its predecessor" (Variety, 95% RT, 79 Metacritic). It is Villeneuve's highest-grossing film to date and the second installment in a planned trilogy; Dune: Messiah is slated for late 2026.
